I am not surprised as to why Carey Mulligan got an Oscar Best Actress nod for this movie in this year's Oscars. She owns this movie!! Her transformation from an innocent high schooler to someone who thinks she is now a woman is beautiful to watch. She looks quite ethereal in this movie and it's not hard to empathize with her character as she falls under the spell of this smooth-talking cad, played handsomely by Peter Sarsgaard. The movie is wonderfully made and everything from the production design, to the costumes and even the acting are all sumptuous to watch. Sally Hawkins, Alfred Molina, Dominic Cooper and Emma Thompson play supporting yet important roles in this movie. I'm not surprised it got the Audience Award at the Sundance Festival.
